Before you go out and buy a thermostat. Try this start the car with the radiatior cap off and let it run for 5 or ten minuets. If this works then it was air locked. Also check to see if the cooling fan(s) operate when the engine is hot. If not it could be a faulty cooling fan motor, cooling fan relay or cooling fan temp sensor.

It MAY help with the overheating problem....but you really need to find out why it's overheating. Blown head gasket, stuck thermostat, bad water pump, fan not coming on, etc.

The 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix can use any SAE certified coolant. In normal climates, the coolant can be mixed half-and-half with water.

The radiator on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix is flushed by draining the coolant, filling the system with water, adding a liquid flush to the system, and running it for a few minutes. The system is then drained, flushed with fresh water, and refilled with coolant.

The red water symbol is an indication that the water is overheating. The red battery symbol is a indication the charging system is not working.

Have you changed the thermostat? If you dont have any clue what ur doin, one thing you could check is if your fan is working properly when the engine warms up. to do the just let idle at high rpm's until the temp rises then see if your fan will kick on, if it doesnt kick on then you may have a bad tempertature sensor. take it to a mechanic to get it fixed

The pipe that runs under the back rear of the passenger side of a 196 Pontiac Grand Am is the water pump. If there is leaking under the passenger side, the first thing to check is the water pump.
