sound like you have a bad alternator. it will kill the battery.
The alternator when the engine is on, and the battery when the engine is off.
The alternator belt on a 1993 Nissan 300ZX will typically squeal if it has excessive wear or it has become lose. This provides a good opportunity to replace the belt before it complete fails.
Normal operating voltage should be close to 13.5. If you're only getting 10V, you need to replace the alternator and/or regulator. I'm not certain but usually the regulator is inside the alternator. If you can drive the vehicle to an auto parts retailer, you can probably have them test the charging system for you.
Remove the belt from your 1985 Nissan 300 alternator. Remove the wiring harness from the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. The alternator will come off.
best way to do it is from the underside using mostly box-end wrenches
You have a bad battery. Keep that up often enough, and you are going to end up with a bad alternator. Alternator's don't like being operated without a load going to them. Running the engine with either of the battery cables disconnected is not good.
There were 3,000 Nissan 300zx convertibles made
VG30DETT is in the 90-95 Nissan 300zx. It is a v6
Your alternator has failed, and the battery has drained from running the vehicle without being able to recharge it. Replace the alternator and the battery should be fine.
Before we go any further, have the battery tested at, Auto Zone, it's free, or wherever, to see if it will hold a charge. If it is good, start looking at the alternator, or something possibly grounded pulling the current, causing voltage lose.
