A computer can not turn off by itself. The monitor just turns blank it you leave it. To turn off the computer you have to prees the on button on your computer. If you press the botton on the monitor it is not turning the computer off... just the screen.

to be honest, you are far better off buying a new computer monitor. why not go for an LCD Monitor. its cheaper to run...and pays for its self in the long run.

Replacing a computer monitor should take less than 10 minutes. First shut off the computer. I am almost positive you need a dual monitor card to run tow monitors off the same computer, because if you don't have a monitor card then you wouldn't be able to run the monitors at all
