The battery provides power to all electrical systems fitted to the car, such as the starter motor, lights, indicators, windscreen wipers, fuel pump, radio etc.
disconnet the battery
you leave the car radio wind dheild wipers and bright lights on.
Either your battery is dead, or your alternator has failed.
Perhaps they are already switched on at the switches inside the car.
Not knowing what vehicle you have, you may have a faulty switch or pulse board. Remove the fuse for the wipers when it is not raining until you can get to a garage for repair.
a dead battery
It could well be a fuse that has blown. But which fuse, is dependant on your vehicle, each car has its own fuse and wiring system.
If the windshield wipers do not turn off in the vehicle, there could be a short between the battery and the wiper motor. It is also possible that the motor is malfunctioning due to the motor not being properly grounded.
Your alternater might have to be replaced. Chances are your battery was not faulty. Your alternator most likely needs repairing or replacing.
Well, both the wipers and the blower could have a burned out fuse. Of course, they both could have a burned out motor. I would run a hot wire from the battery to the wipers and the blower motor. If they worked, I'd be looking for a fuse or bad switch.
It sounds like you have short somewhere in the wiring to your wipers. I would unplug the wiper motor and then start the car and get the battery charged up. Then try to restart the car and if the battery is holding power then you need to track down the short in yoru wipers. Your wipers even though being off maybe is drawing current from your battery making the battery weak. You may want to look at the wiper switch as a possible problem and then the wiper motor to see if you can find the short. Also you might want to check the fuse that is located between the alternator (red wire) and the starter. it is a long black fuse box(2"x1")
