Why doesn't England use the euro?

People in Britain don't want the Euro, they are quite happy using sterling and quite correctly see the Euro as a further attempt by the EU to steal power away from national governments. And with the current European debt crisis there is no hope that England will ever join it as the euro itself will soon collapse. Hope you found this useful.
It was decided by John Major's government (1990-7) that the UK would not be in the first wave of the Euro. When Tony Blair became PM (1997-2007)it was decided that the UK would join when the economic conditions were right. The economic conditions were not met during his Premiership and since Gordon Brown has taken over, the UK's membership of the Euro has been off the political agenda.
