Why doesn't a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis heater get hot even after the thermostat was replaced?
Heater could just be air bound and need to be bled It may have a bad heater control valve. If it has one, it will be located on one of the heater hoses by the firewall. Check the valve, and check the vacuum line going to the valve, as it may have rotted, and have come apart where it comes from the firewall, and to the valve. And also, the valve could be frozen in the closed position. If the Heater Control Valve is working-FEEL BOTH hoses-IF one is not HOT then U have a Blockage-Like a blocked heater Core.IF U put a Garden hose on one of the inlets U should have flow (both ways) check 4 a pinched or collapsed hose. If all The Previous items are checked it is possible , If the car is equipped with climate control that this portion of the system is at fault, this was also a common problem with these cars as they aged.
Why wouldn't you have heat in your ram250 van when the hoses into and out of the heater core get hotwarm after idling even tho the water in the radiator doesnt get warm?
Sounds like your thermostat is done for. The water in the hoses is probably heating up from being close to the hot engine. This continued to happen to me after i replaced the thermostat twice thinking maybe i had bought a bad thermostat turns out it was the heater core. Both the front and back were pluged.
just because the thermostat is new doesnt make it good your supposed to boil it in water to see if it opens and closes so it may be bad. if your car is low on oil it will overheat also or start the car and watch the radiator hose it it collapses then the hose is clogged and the water isn't flowing right which will cause it to overheat.
1987 Lincoln town car only blows cold air no heat you just replaced the thermostat and water pump it still doesnt work?
Your 1993 Pontiac sunbird with a 2L 4 has been overheating you fixed all the leaks and replaced the radiator fan motorbut the fan still doesnt come on Im guessing this is most likely the radiato?
If you have any questions, pull both radiator hoses and run water into one end. If you can get water to flow as fast as the hose can send it, you probably don't have a blocked heater. Also check the thermostat. A stuck thermostat can cause an engine to overheat. An easy check on a thermostat is to drop it in a pan of water then bring the pan to boiling. The thermostat should open…
1999 mercury cougar overheating new thermostat.. not leaking antifreeze only leaks through the overflow when car stops but doesnt over heat... antifreeze resvuior always seems to be under pressure?
BMW 318i se e46 my temp gauge rises to the max for no reason for a period of time then goes bac to normal thermo sensor already replaced red light doesnt come on and car gets sluggish?
There has been some talk that the Mercury Villager doesnt have a great cooling system, sometimes a bigger radiator replacement might help.. but either way you have to keep the coolant, timming, etc in perfect state. The reason why it goes from normal to hot then back to normal is because that is usually when the temperature rises hi enouth for the thermostat to open up and lets the cooling back in circulation thru the…
What is wrong when the Rudd heating unit ignites but does not stay on long enough for the temperature to come up to the thermostat setting?
No heat in your car may be from your water pump going out and not feeding your heater core with enough water to produce heat. First remove your thermostat and see if your car stops over heating. If it doesnt, then you need to replace your water pump. Hopefully you havent cracked your heads. If your car doesnt over heat after removing the thermostat, but you still have no heat in the car. Then its…
