In 1961, the Impala SS (Super Sport) was introduced to the market. The Chevelle went out in 1977 during a Chevy downsizing, when all sedans took the Malibu name. since 1961 chevy has halted the production of the SS a few times. chevy made there first car in 1913, it was a 1914 royal mail roadster.
try turning key on (don't start) then pump gas to floor 6 times, light should flash then go out (works with many chevy's, but not sure about Impala)
With the key turned on ( not started ), click your parking lights on 3 times
On my 03 all I had to do was turn the key on and press the gas pedal all the way down 3 times for 5 seconds.
Could be a faulty thermostat or maybe just low on coolant.
With engine off. Turn key to on. Press accelerator fully three times. This should reset light.
Could be a bad oil sending unit - try a mechanical gauge to get an accurate reading
