Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate holidays with pagan origins or holidays associated with what they view as unbiblical religious rites. According to Wikipedia:

"Though popular modern sources link unspecified Greco-Roman February holidays alleged to be devoted to fertility and love to St Valentine's Day [...] Earlier links as described above were focused on sacrifice rather than romantic love.

In the ancient Athenian calendar the period between mid-January and mid-February was the month of Gamelion, dedicated to the sacred marriage of Zeus and Hera. in ancient Rome, Lupercalia, observed February13 through 15, was an archaic rite connected to fertility. Lupercalia was a festival local to the city of Rome. The more general Festival of Juno Februa, meaning "Juno the purifier "or "the chaste Juno," was celebrated on February 13-14." -- Wikipedia (Valentine's Day > Attested Traditions)
No, we don't celebrate any holidays. No birthdays, no Christmas, you get the idea. No

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that at its origins, Valentines day is linked to pagan beliefs and celebrations. According to Wikipedia:

The origins of Mother's Day: On the origin of such observance, the Encyclopædia Britannica (1959 edition) states:

"A festival derived from the custom of mother worship in ancient Greece. Formal mother worship, with ceremonies to Cybele, or Rhea, the Great Mother of the Gods, were performed on the Ides of March throughout Asia Minor."

Regarding the adoption of Mother's Day in the United States, the New York Times of May 10, 1953, reported: "In spite of the popularity of Cybele, . . . and sporadic occasions honoring mothers during the Middle Ages, it was not until 1914 that the proper combination of sentimentality, idealistic promotion and hard business sense impelled the United States Congress to designate the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day."

**************************************************************************

We clearly see that Mother's Day originates from pagan customs as stated in the Encyclopædia.

Jehovah's Witnesses strive to avoid all holidays with pagan origins. Keep in mind, too, that the origin of religious celebrations has a bearing on whether they please God or not.

Do origins really matter? If you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter, would you eat it? Of course not. It is dirty. Most holidays may seem sweet, but like that nasty candy, are unclean with pagan origins. "Touch nothing unclean" -(Isaiah 52:11; Revelation 18:4)

We always want to make sure our worship is "acceptable" to God. -(Eph. 5:10)

Jehovah exacts exclusive devotion, "I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion."-(Ex. 20:5)

However, holidays that exalt humans or human organizations are not acceptable to Jehovah. (Jeremiah 17:5-7; Acts 10:25, 26)

Because it is a pagan holiday. The World Book Encyclopedia informs us: "Valentine's Day comes on the feast day of two different Christian martyrs named Valentine. But the customs connected with the day . . . probably come from an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia which took place every February 15. The festival honored Juno, the Roman goddess of women and marriage, and Pan, the god of nature."---(1973), Vol. 20, p. 204.

Jehovah's witnesses don't celebrate valentines day because Jehovah's Witnesses take their worship very seriously and insist upon keeping their worship of God undefiled based on (James 1:27). There are 2 main reasons why Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate St. Valentine's Day: first Pagan ceremonies honoring pagan gods are mixed in with St. Valentine's Day's origins. second The Bible makes it clear that there is to be no veneration or adoration of Saints as intercessors with God. Our approach to the Father can only be through Jesus based on (John 14:6, 14; 1 Tim. 2:5)

Jehovah's witnesses dont celebrate valentines day because such holidays have pagan backgrounds or histories. Jehovah's witnesses avoid celebrating events with pagan origins, only worshiping Jehovah.

Because it is a celebration that they feel offends God for two reasons.

1) It started out as a celebration of Saint Valentinus which makes it a Catholic holiday.

The Bible is very specific about venerating or praying to anyone other than Almighty God.

Jesus said: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

So Jehovah's Witnesses do not accept the designation of Saints as established by the Catholic Church and so do not participate or celebrate any of the Catholic holidays.

2) Over time, it blended with the Roman Festival Lupercalia. This was a festival honoring the pagan god lupercus. It was very common for the early Catholic Church to absorb some of these pagan festivals into their teachings so that they could gain more members.

This goes against the Bible's warning about mixing false religion with true religion (a problems the ancient Israelites often had)

The Apostle Paul said at 2 Corinthians 6:15 "Further, what harmony is there between Christ and Be′li·al? Or what does a believer share in common with an unbeliever?"

He was warning the Corinthians that if they regularly mixed with non-believers, their faith would be affected.

Why don't the Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate teachers day?

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate holidays that they believe do not fit true Christianity. These include Christmas, Easter, and even birthdays. The Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Christ did not command his birth - or any birth - to be celebrated; he just wanted his death to be remembered.

Why don't Jehovah Witnesses believe in the birth of Christ?

Jehovah's Witnesses do not have doubts that Jesus was born. In fact, they are just as thankful he was born as the next person. They dont celebrate his birth, because his death holds more signifigance. Luke chapter 22 verses 19 through 20 gives clear meaning that Jesus was saying to celebrate his death, not his birth. His blood really saved man, not his birth. This question was no doubt asked on the bases that Jehovah's Witnesses do no celebrate Christmas. Contact local witnesses for more information about why they dont celebrate christmas or Jesus' birth.

Should you give a card to a Jehovah's witness for the birth of their child?

Yes you can give a witnesses a card; whether the witnesses will chose to accept it will depend on several factors. Since Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Christmas or birthdays (or other celebrations they deem as 'pagan') if this has previously been explained the witness may or may not choose to accept the card if it is for one of these occassions. He or she may accept the card in the spirit it was given, explaining the above or may chose not to accept the card. If the card is for another occassion that the witnesses finds unobjectionable they will likely accept it with thanks.
