The teachings of the Buddha are said to be timeless. Meaning it is applicable to any day and age, since it deals with the path of practice that leads to the ending of suffering of all living beings. As long as there are living beings then there will be suffering, and hence teachings of the Buddha will be applicable to any time.

The main points of Buddhism are Generosity, Morality ,Concentration and Wisdom.

Generosity is going to make a society which shares and hence makes the world a better place to live.

Morality is one of the strong points of Buddhism, this is essential to keep any society working smoothly.

Concentration is the development of meditation practice. Which has been proven to have many beneficial effects.

Wisdom is clearly going to help individuals to live their lives more peacefully and wisely.

Buddhism is relevant because it causes us to really inspect our actions. We create illusions about the reality around us. These illusions lead us to have unrealistic expectations. Those lead to suffering.

We are responsible for our own "happiness". No thing or other person can make that happen. We doom ourselves to unhappiness when we look outside for that.

Buddha taught us to look within.
