Several reasons. They feel the police have too much authority and give the citizens fewer civil rights. The police are known to beat citizens on a regular basis. The minimum wage is at $6 and has been for 27 years. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor, and all of the income going into the country is going to the rich. Food prices are really high. Their president Mubarak has used corrupt methods to keep himself in power, so he's been their president for 30 years, and he's at a point where he really isn't doing anything about stuff that needs to be taken care of. It all boils down to the citizens being sick of their lazy president.
Grievances for Egyptian protesters have focused on legal and political issues[16] including police brutality,[12] state of emergency laws,[12] lack of free elections and free speech,[17] and corruption,[17] as well as economic issues including high unemployment,[18] food price inflation,[18] and low minimum wages.[12][18] Demands from protest organizers included rights of freedom and justice, the end of the Hosni Mubarak regime, and a new government that represents the interests of the Egyptian people.[19]

The president of Egypt wants absolute authority over his country, but the people don't want him to. They are protesting like we would in the United States, and he got mad that they were acting like Americans.
people started to protest due to having no jobs, and even the people who had jobs were paid so little; the reason is that the govenment used to take all of the countries wealth. you could say that egypt had been under the rule of a dictatorship!
they think that they are protesting something, but they are pointless hobos
Because of a video made in California Insulting the Muslims all over the world
This question may be referring to the "Arab Spring". If it does, the protesting citizens were upset at the lack of various forms of democracy in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Yemen and Syria.
I've seen tv news and saw people protesting and telling CHASE banks to give their money back.
They are protesting because the rich people rarely pay taxes and the banks are raising fees.

People should study more on the history of Egypt. The only reason why people are protesting now is because Tunisia protested so it gave them courage that they CAN get a revolution. The Egyptians formed a group called the brotherhood which was against the government but they hanged the leaders and perescuted them with extreme amount of torture, So no, it wasn't just a we'll wait 30 years to protest. Every single member of the brotherhood was imprisoned and still is. What is the point of him being there if you don't let the people have a say? if you don't let the people practise their religion? (that is Islam) If you close the borders to Palestine enabling thousands of people to die, from hunger? He was a traitor to the Arab people, a traitor to the Muslims and christians in palestine and Egypt, He is Americas puppet and for the reason why people are protesting against him so they can have a democratic vote and chose their leader or atleast have a leader who isn't a tyrant.
cause they were thrown in jail for protesting
