Is pH value only for liquids?

That is correct, only an aqueous solution has a pH value. There are certainly chemicals in either a solid or gaseous state which will have an effect on the pH of an aqueous solution if they dissolve in that solution, but until they do, they do not have a pH.

Aqueous solution of gaseous HCl is acidic but solution of HCl gas in benzene has no acidic property?

This is because of the polarity of the solvents. Aqueous solution (H2O) is very polar and will produce H+ ions when HCL is added, thus resulting in a acidic solution. On the other hand, benzene, a nonpolar solvent will not produce H+ ions and no acidic properties.

What does the state symbol aq mean when written after a chemical compound in a chemical reaction?

'Aq' in chemistry is an abbreviation of the word 'Aqueous' meaning dissolved in solution. The opposite of aqueous is 'Anhydrous' meaning not in solution. Example | You can dissolve anhydrous citric acid into a beaker of distilled water, which would make an aqueous solution of citric acid.

What do hydrogen sulphide and copper sulphate form when mixed together?

When gaseous H2S is passed through aqueous CuSO4, a black precipitate of Copper Sulphide (CuS) is formed with sulphuric acid solution.

What is gaseous solution?

A gaseous solution is when two or more gases are mixed together and become uniformly intermingled. The atmosphere is a gaseous solution. It consists of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, carbon dioxide, water, methane, and some other minor components.A gaseous solution is two gases that are mixed together and become uniformly intermingles. An example of a gaseous solution is the atmosphere.

What does aq s g and l mean in chemistry?

These are called "state symbols". In chemical equations, they tell us what form the compounds/elements etc. are present in: * (s) tells us that the substance is solid, such as 'CaCO3(s)' * (l) tells us that the substance is liquid or molten, such as 'H2O(l)' * (g) tells us that the substance is gaseous, such as 'CO2(g)' * (aq) tells us that the substance is in solution ie. aquaeous, such as 'HCl(aq)'

What is the phase of the lithosphere?

Predominantly solid, but there is some liquid phase, and in certain situations, even a gaseous one.

What is the balance chemical equation for Aqueous lithium hydroxide reacts with gaseous cabon dioxide to produce aqueous lithium hydrogen caronate?
