It's less expensive than sending astronauts, and can still get a lot of science done.
NASA explores space by launching space rockets with famous astronauts in them
NASA is not sending astronauts anywhere except Earth orbit. There are no plans to colonize the moon, nor is there a rational reason to do so, nor is it economically feasible to do.
Discovery was the last shuttle that launched. With her landing on March 9, 2011, the shuttle program ended.
i have no clue;)

Astronauts aboard the space shuttle were primarily NASA astronauts, astronauts from Canada, Europe and other countries.
The last time a human has landed on the moon was in 1971. Since no NASA astronauts have landed on anything from that day on, astronauts are mostly carried by a space craft throughout their journey.

Yes they did. Russia used a pencil! No this is completely false when NASA first began sending astronauts into space they didn't even have that much money to blow. The pen that astronauts in both Russia and the US use was completely funded by an individual named Paul Fisher and he spent millions of dollars researching it not billions.
