Pluto is closer in size and composition to the MOONS of the outer planets Neptune and Uranus. It is not as substantial as the inner terrestrial planets, but is typical of many icy objects that orbit past Neptune.

The gas giants are massive objects with deep, dense atmospheres. Pluto is so small it cannot hold much of an atmosphere at all.

Pluto is not like a gas giant it is small in size so it is like aterrestrial planet, rather like Mercury but Pluto is far away and thus much cooler.

Please look up why the dwarf planets have been categorized and it will show you Pluto's failings in comparison to the other planets

Pluto fails to meet the criteria set by the new board of planet selectors (IAU) and is thus now categorized as a dwarf planet with it's moon Charon.

The arrival of Xena prompted the thought as Xena (now named Eris) was discovered not long ago, was bigger and much more rounded in formation than Pluto and they never knew what to call it.

Eris and Haumea have now been added to Pluto's list of the 5 dwarf planets in our solar system with the prospect of more in future

Neptune thus is our last and furthest named planet to our solar system, beyond this they will be known as dwarf planets.

This is a good idea too as rather similarly they should bring the same formulae for classification of moons and dwarf moons around our other planets.

Thus Pluto should in fact be a dwarf plant with a dwarf moon called Charon

based on the thesis that moons should be circular or ball like and non distorted with a circular orbit around the mother planet's (my thoughts)

Pluto is not considered to be a gas giant or a rocky planet because it is made up of mostly ice and dust. Pluto is no longer even considered to be a planet.

Pluto can't be a Terrestrial or Jovian. It's much smaller than any of the official planets and now classified as a "dwarf planet.

But Pluto is not made of gas or rock.

Because its one of the quasi comet masses from the Ort cloud.

In other words, its a remnant of the forming solar system, not a major player.
