It was called the kings crusade because at the time Richard the lion heart and saladin had a fight against the holy land, they are both kings in some sort of way.

Saladin wasn't as reckless and violent as King Richard the Lion-Heart, he was very peacful and as seen in the end of the 4th Crusade, Saladin and King Richard decided to commend to a treaty.
