Tokyo is also the largest city in Japan and one of the largest cities in the world. Tokyo is also an economical powerhouse generating a GDP of US$1.479 trillion a year ( 2008 stats). With that Tokyo is also a powerhouse in technology and a powerhouse in Asia.
