As we know life right now, the only place we know
Life on Earth is the only life we know of right now. If there is life on Mars or Jupiters Moon Europa, it tells us something radical about our universe, and life it self. That life manifests itself when ever possible. Furthermore it would give us an idea of life made from other mechanisms than is known from our own. Looking at these and the adaptions would give us a better idea of the terrestrial life as it is
Carbon, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Hydrogen are extremely important but life could not exist without Phosphorous and quite a few other trace elements. Magnesium is needed for Chlorophyll and Iron for blood and many others
It is as important as medical field
haemoglobin is important because it can carry oxygen.
why are biomes important why are biomes important
why are electrons important to photosynthesis.
Astrobiology is the study of life in the universe, and requires biology, astronomy and geology.
International Journal of Astrobiology was created in 2002.
The budget of NASA Astrobiology Institute is 16,000,000 dollars.
Astrobiology deals with the origin of the universe, the universe's composition, future of life in the universe, distribution of the universe, etc.
From wikipedia: Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe.See related link for more information.

Xenobiology is the speculative biology of extraterrestrial life forms.
Astrobiology is a multi-disciplinary science, showcasing work from geology, astrophysics, chemistry, and biology. I suggest loaning an Astrobiology book from the library to find out more information regarding this discipline. I also recommend going to NASA's webpage to read more about the vitual Astrobiology Institute. From there, you can read about the different centers. And at each center's website, you can see the available positions. Cheers!
