Do you really need to ask? Where do you think medicinal drugs and therapies come from? What about laboratory tests which doctors run on sick patients? What about radiation therapies for cancer patients? Medicine is based on chemistry. Without chemistry, medicine would just be voodoo.

Without chemistry, we would:

  • ot know anything about plants and herbs, which resulted in the development of medications
  • not have medications (pharmacology)
  • not be able to study the chemistry of blood
  • not be able to use anesthesia during surgery (gases)
  • not understand how chemotherapy works or develop any chemical forms of cancer treatment

In addition to medicine, without chemistry we would:

  • not be able to create many products, such as plastics
  • not be able to go to space because no one would understand gases
