Is cosmetic surgery ethical

Provided that Patients are properly selected by the Plastic Surgeon and they are well informed about the benefits, risks and complications, I feel that cosmetic surgery is ethical.

There is no doubt that peoples lives are changed by cosmetic surgery, mostly for the better

Everyones morals are different. What you perceive to be immoral is entirely dependent on your beliefs. Some cultures find self-mutilation and change a part of their beliefs (ie; the African tribes that "stretch" their necks or the stretching of the earlobes).

Cosmetic surgery also helps those who didn't ask for change; burn victims, treating a scar from some other injury, etc.

Changing yourself may not be moral in the eyes of one religion, but not all religions follow the same "rules".

i would say its okay if something happened to you and your trying to make yourself normal again but probly not okay if your just trying to look better to be vain

Of course, you are asking an opinion here, there is no absolute answer, but in my opinion, the answer is yes, unless it is to correct some gross abnormality obtained from a birth defect, terrible accident, or disease. But most of what is being done just for the sake of vanity is immoral.

Cosmetic surgery is used to fix burns, damage due to accidents and other problems. It is not immoral.
