Basically, If the sun had no gravity we would be drifting off into space and we wouldn't orbit anything. but Because the sun has gravity it pulls the planets in, allowing them to orbit the sun.

Without the gravity of the sun there would be nothing to stop us from flying out into the cold darkness of space. As a matter of fact without the force of gravity there would be nothing if that could exist but an infinitesimally fine misty characterless soup that would never bind together. Whose solar system?

Gravity is important in our solar system for a number of reasons:

  • It keeps the planets in orbit around the sun
  • It keeps natural satellites (i.e. moons) in orbit around their respective planet
  • It allowed for the formation of the sun
  • It allowed for the formation of the planets, moons, meteors, and comets within our solar system
  • It allowed for the planets (and moons) to become spherical in shape
  • It allows for the sun to continue to undergo fusion in it's core

If earth has rings would there be life on the planet?

I don't think so bc of earths gravity it would completely tear our planet apart

Why is is earths atmosphere important?

The earth's atmosphere is important as it contains the life saving ozone layer. It protects the earth against the harmful UV radiations of the sun.

What would change in terms of gravity and heat for the Earth if the Sun was suddenly replaced by a super giant star?

earth wouldn't support life. and earths water would evaporate.

The earth's differentiation and size were significant factors for life on Earth because Earth's composition and gravitational attraction?

Chemical differentiation resulted in the Earth's crust having elements important for life. Earth's gravity keeps the Moon in orbit. That could be important for the stability of the Earth's rotation axis. Gravity helps to keep an atmosphere. (I'm pretty sure someone can improve my answer.)

What is the earths closest star why is this star important to earth?

The Sun is the Earth's closest star. Without the Sun there would be no light and no heat and life would not be able to exist on Earth.

What is the Importance of the earth gravitational field?

The Earth's gravitational field is important primarily because it keeps the Earth in orbit around the Sun, which sustains life. Without gravity, life would cease to exist.

Why is space not like earth?

Earth: Space: - is a planet - No gravity - supports life - Vaccum - gravity - No gravity or atmosphere - atmosphere

Why is earths magnetic field impotant?

The earth's magnetic field is important in that it prevents the sun's solar radiation from killing life on earth by wiping out the earth's atmosphere and deflecting dangerous radiation.

Why are seasons important to life on earth?

seasonal change made life possible on the earth by energy from sun heats this layer; and the surface below ; causing expansion of the air.

What would happen if earth didn't have gravity?

If the earth had no gravity it follows that gravity would be absent from any mass. In the absence of gravity life would not exist.
