To answer this question, we must first consider - What is the meaning of ecological balance?

Ecological Balance is a state of dynamic equilibrium within a community of organisms in which genetic, species and ecosystem diversity remain relatively stable, subject to gradual changes through natural succession. It can also be referred to as 'a stable balance in the numbers of each species in an ecosystem'.

In simple words, it is what keeps nature in harmony.

Whatever is taken from the environment must be given back to it. In fact, phenomena like global warming, acid rain and pollution happen because the element taken from the environment is used up without replenishing it. If the ecological balance is disturbed, there can be drastic consequences, some of which are already happening
