The reason why countries use non-renewable energy sources such as oil, coal and natural gas is simply because the infrastructure to use these is already there and it is cheaper. We are now starting to build the infrastructure needed to use renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power but it is expensive to do so and the cost to build the necessary equipment would make the price of the power very high. So, when it comes right down to it- the answer to your question is: Because it is cheaper!

People still use non-renewable sources of energy because they are available naturally and can be gotten form recycling waste materials that is easily accessible, also Because those energy resources are already developed and so have massive industries around their extraction, processing, delivery and usage Without the use of the resources our country would be in worse shape than it is now. West Virginia and Kentucky produce the most coal which is burned and used to make electricity.

Your question is not true. Renewable resources have been predominantly used throughout human history. Long before the discovery of coal or oil, it was wood that was used to heat homes and cook food. And back when cars were called horses, they were fueled by hay and oats.

Nonrenewable sources (fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas)) are inexpensive because there is a glut market in the supply of them. No-one wants to think about the future, especially when there is a whole industry trying to tell everyone there is no need to think about it.

Renewable resources are better, as they can be used over and over, like wind, water and sunlight.

Non-renewables are usually polluting, like coal, which is one of the causes of climate change.
