Why is it dark here when it is light on the other side of the Earth?

Explain what happens when it isdark here when it is light on the other sideof the Earth?
What does the earths rotation cause?
The earths rotation on its axis causes days and nights. When the rotates and it is dark, that means that your part of the Earth is facing away from the sun. If it is light out on your part of the Earth that means that your part of the Earth is facing the sun. And here is a fun fact: if your part of the Earth is light outside the part of the Earth on the exact opposite side is dark out!

What is the name of the line between darkness and daylight on earth?

Do visible light waves require a medium to travel?
Why do light waves require a medium in which to travel?
Light waves do not require a medium through which to travel. They will travel (propagate) perfectly well in a vacuum. Otherwise, light would not pass through the vacuum of space. It would be very dark here on earth as the light from the sun, moon and stars could not reach Earth through the vacuum of space.

Does radiant energy need the presence of solid liquid or gas in order to travel?

How long does the star takes to reach earth?
Stars don't travel to earth. But the light and other radiation that they emit spreads out in every direction from the star, and some of it eventually hits the earth. Starting out from the star, it takes the light 1 year to reach the earth for every 5,878,700,000,000 miles it has to cover to get here.

Does dark matter exist on earth?
With our present understanding of dark matter -- ie, we don't exactly what it is -- we would have no way of knowing how much dark matter exists within the confines of our planet. Because dark matter has (by definition) almost no interaction with the stuff our Earth is made of, we can't detect its presence here. If and when we find out what the stuff is, we can then make a reasonable determination of how much is here on our planet. Well dark matter is what cause our fabric of space time that cause gravitational pull of our earth eventually dark matter is everything!!

Why does the moon have a dark side and a lit side?
There is only one Sun in our solar system, and all the planets (and most of the moons) are round. So with only one light source, half of every ball is going to be dark. When the ball is spinning, as most of them do, then there is a light period and a dark period. Photographers often use large flash reflectors to soften the harsh shadows caused by the primary light source. We here on Earth are blessed with a large reflector in the sky, which reflects the Sun's light back onto the dark side of the Earth. It's the Moon. Some scientists have proposed building enormous mirrors in orbit to reflect the Sun's light back down onto the Earth, to give us a more uniform illumination. Sort of the ultimate solar-powered street lighting.

How long has light from other stars been traveling toward earth?
Well it depends on what you mean. The distance for how long it takes, or the time as in how long since Earth was made. Earth as you know has been here a long long time. Stars light has been shinning towards Earth eversince it was made. To see how long it takes for a stars light to reach Earth depends on how distant and huge the star is.
