Sneezes are travelling germ clouds. The invisible droplets will carry a lot farther than one can see and contain harmful bacteria
To stop the spread of viruses or other germs that can be released in respiratory droplets. These droplets are expelled during coughs and sneezes when you have the flu or a cold. You cover to catch those germs and droplets. It is to prevent giving others the germs you have. It is also just good etiquette so you don't spit on someone or their food or possessions accidentally during a cough, or make them see yucky stuff come out of your mouth and/or nose when you sneeze or cough. It is the polite and sanitary thing to do.
So you don't spread your germs to other people.
When coughing and sneezing, most of the respiratory droplets that can spread viruses and diseases come from your mouth, but there is also a certain amount that can come out of your nose at the same time due to the force behind the cough or sneeze. Covering both the nose and mouth during coughs or sneezes is the proper way to prevent spreading your germs and perhaps spreading diseases through these respiratory droplets. It is also the proper way for good manners, so you don't spit in someone's face (or worse, when it is coming from your nose!).
School health and safety programs and hygiene classes teach children the proper way to cover their mouths and noses when they cough or sneeze. Covering both is important to prevent the spread of germs.
It is best to use a tissue, but since tissues aren't always available when needed, children and adults are taught to cover their mouths and noses with their arm (or crook of arm at the elbow) to prevent the respiratory droplets from being released into the air or onto people or things.
Practice good health and safety, and good etiquette by covering yours too, so you do not not "spray" others with the viruses and bacteria that are shooting out of your mouth and nose.
when something is stuck in your windpipe, you cough. it a sort of an involuntary action..in you respiratory tract, u have bacteria which are trapped by the mucus. now when this mucus gets stuck, u cough to get it out so technically i wud contain bacteria and when u cough the particles in ur cough travel abt 10 meters far so anyone in that range inhaling air wud anhale the bacteria containing particles u coughed out..so basically u cover ur mouth so the bacteria cannot travel that far and cause infections in others...it doesnt benifit u anyhow..it for the safety of others
Your taught this as a kid. If you cover your sneeze with your elbow instead of your hand germs won't be transmitted onto everything you touch... most importantly things like rubbing your nose... eyes... and mouth. You cover mouth because when you sneeze air born germs fly out of your mouth like a volcano spewing and if you have a cold your can easily get someone else sick.
When sneezing, although most of the respiratory droplets that can spread viruses, bacteria and diseases would come from your mouth, there is also a certain amount that can come out of your nose at the same time (it can also happen with a cough) due to the force behind the sneeze. Covering both the nose and mouth during coughs or sneezes is the proper way to prevent that spread of disease. It is also the proper way for good manners and being polite, so you don't spit in someone's face (or worse, what it is coming from your nose!).

The respiratory droplets can contain viruses or other germs that can then infect other people. Wash your hands after using the tissue to trap the droplets and get some tissues to have with you in case it happens again.
See the related questions for how to wash your hands to remove germs.
So you don't spread germs
When you cover your mouth during a sneeze, you prevent the thousands of droplets that blast out of your mouth from flying everywhere. Even though you sneeze because somethings in your nose, most of the air and droplets that fly out come from your mouth.
When most people sneeze, lots of air and sometimes spit comes out of their mouths. If they sneeze, they could be sick, the air could get to someones face and they would get sick. And, If you ask me, I'd rather cover my mouth than spit on everything and everyone
Well, so the buggers and snot from your nose don't spread out and come hit people.
It makes it so no one gets sick.

When you sneeze you spray droplets of viruses and bacteria into the air. The covering of the nose is an attempt to stop the droplets of stuff getting sprayed in the air. It is also viewed as a common *curtsy to cover your nose when you sneeze.
-Covering your mouth is more important though. That's because most, if not all, of the droplets that come out when you sneeze are from your mouth.

When we sneeze , the particles can come out and spread in the air . This can be carried to a healthy person's nose . This can make a healthy person infected .That's why we should cover our mouth and nose while sneezing .
Some people do cover their mouth while they cough as it is a part of manners.Others don't as they do not show off their manners. As relates to manners, no one wants to shake hands with you after you've sneezed into them. As a matter of public health , sneezing into the crook of your arm lessens the spread of droplet infection. Every one should learn this as a small child.
Because if you don't, you'll spray thousands of droplets out of your mouth everywhere.
Your nose ring should not fall out while sneezing if it is properly inserted.
A sneeze once in a while is okay. If your hamster is sneezing every five minutes, you should go to the vet.
Cover your mouth with you hands and blow warm air into it for a while and you will be able to let the metal let you tongue go.
You cannot breathe in; If you talking about breathing out, then yes. That is why you take a big inhale before sneezing. It's because you cannot breathe while you are sneezing.

yes but not for a while
No, if this happens the air is travelling down the esophagus and not the trachea. To avoid this from happening, tilt the head back while giving mouth-to-mouth.
