Why is it that most teens and adults like to watch grown up shows and not cartoons?

I'm guessing that adults and teens don't find the comedy in these Cartoons amusing which i get because i am a teen!
"grown up" shows like Family Guy seem much more amusing because they have crude humor that they find funnier,
people mature with age and those dumb kiddie cartoons don't seam to be mature or like you said grown up enough.
but cartoons like Disney's classic "steamboat willie" (please look it up on YouTube) are hilarious to everybody, so very good choice.

These teens & adults probably think you are too old to watch these or they think that those shows are stupid. Or possibly they are just being immature.

I think it's because early cartoons were aimed at children, specifically. Cartoons nowadays have more adult themes and references than cartoons from the early 1900's to the 1960's. Those were cartoons from a more innocent era. People are more cynical and savvy now. There are plenty of cartoons nowadays that are aimed squarely at teens and adults. 'Family Guy', 'Futurama', 'The Simpsons', and many more, are written with an adult sensibility. I am not, in the least bit, ashamed to view these cartoons. In fact, I often reference them in everyday conversation. Despite all of this, I agree that there is a stigma attached to adults watching animated shows.

That's not true. I'm a teenager and I still watch cartoons and I don't mind other people that watch them as well. There are cartoons oriented toward teens and adults. Adult Swim (late nights on Cartoon Network) is specifically designed for people 18 and older.
