Magnesium is an alkaline earth metal found in group 2 of the periodic table. That means it is fairly reactive and will readily combine with other elements or compounds rather than hang around by itself in nature.

Why isn't magnesium found naturally?

Magnesium is a highly reactive metal; it is forth in the
reacticity series. it is therefore unlikely to occur naturally
because it reacts with other elements and substances in the Earth
to form compounds. Examples of compounds formed are magnesium
carbonate and dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate).
Also its found fretimine, sadomimne and fertayas( welsh name for
it )
