It's called milk because it has an off-white color and is roughly the consistency of milk. ----------- Whilst true milk is the lactation of a mammal (ie: breast milk) any product that likes like milk and is used like milk tends to become called as "milk". This is the same for Coconut milk and for nut milks such as Soy-Milk. If is the ground up nut (or in this case, bean) that is mized with water and looks like and is used as "milk".
