The out side temp sensor is located in front and below the air conditioner condencer.It will have a two wire connector.

The temp sending unit for the temp gauge is located on the drivers side of the engine between cylinders 3 and 5 spark plugs.
7 for the instrument cluster 9 and 10 for highbeam headlamps.
any make after 1997 will be susceptible to electrical issues when engine is normal. i wish they would have left the computer stuff out of vehicles. gauge is most likely electrically impaired.
