Youth Day is important to South Africa because it symbolises the outrage of the youth who knew what was best for our country and only wanted peace. It also reminds us that the youth of today must fight for our rights and needs just as they fought and died for their rights and needs in 1976. They need to fight against HIV/AIDS as well as the increase in crime which is affecting our youth today. It is a national holiday to remember all the young people who lost their lives in the struggle against apartheid. We honour all these brave young people.
