Soon I was at the place. Already a large crowd of people had gathered near a big building which was on fire. Flames were rising high. People were running about confused. The cries of children got mixed with the shrieks of women. It was really a heart-rending scene. Soon the news spread. Some boy sco…uts arrived at the scene. They at once set to work. They brought pails of water from the tap nearby and threw it on the flames. Some of them brought bags of sand. I, too joined in the work. Someone rang the fire brigade. Soon it came down the street, making a loud noise. The sound of its bell ringing late at night served as an alarm to the people of the locality. They all rushed to the place. Many came there to serve the terror stricken inmates of the house. The brass-helmeted men of the fire brigade at once started their work. They took out their hose pipes and directed water towards the flames. It was after an. hour's hard labour that the fire began to die out: At last it was extinguished. The building now presented a ghastly appearance. It was all charred and in ruins. The valuable furniture and costly items of the house lay scattered on the road. The scouts formed a cordon round the things and did not let anyone come near them. The owner of the house was all but a ruined man. He looked very sad. His wife, an old lady, was weeping bitterly. The children, too, were terror stricken. They hardly knew what calamity had overtaken the family. The fire brigade went back. The crowd also melted away. Soon the place was as deserted as before. No one knew the cause of the fire. It was rumoured that it was all the result of smoking. It was estimated that property worth one lakh had been destroyed in the fire. Luckily there was no loss of life. I, too, went back home. It was past midnight. I was tired out but happy that I had been of some help. ( Full Answer )

From the early railroad era. When the train came into a town/station, the engineer would have several things to do before the engin was ready to continue. While he accomplished these tasks, his fireman would often go into town to visit the ladies or whatever....The fireman always took a lantern from… the train (red) and placed it outside the establishment...When the engin/engineer was ready to pull out, and his fireman was not back, he always knew where he could be found...Just look for the red lantern....often these areas where the railroad fireman frequented were refered to as "the red light district"...from the lantern ( Full Answer )

In ancient Rome, fire brigades were formed to fight fire and to enforce corporal punishment on those who flouted the fire codes. This was at least before 24 BCE. They used a bucket brigade of slaves as the fire fighting mechanism. Once the concept was thought of, it would have been natural to have… a central depot, or several depots spread city-wide, in which to store the emergency supplies. In more recent times, the Great Fire of London in 1666 drew focus on the need to have a trained and available fire fighting organization. Subsequent to this, Insurance Companies were formed to spread the risk amongst the insured. These companies naturally had an interest in the availability of fire fighting services. Some of today's insurance companies trace their ancestry to these events. Older forms of formal insurance date back at least to the Code of Hammurabi in 1750 BCE. ( Full Answer )

You should be ashamed with your self ! ! ! i am the Jonas Brothers mothers but i can tell you we live in New Jersey .
it spreads on the ground at sets anything in its way like houses. This isn't entirely true. Flames usually penetrate the walls from the inside out, coming out through windows or vents, making the flames reach other houses. If the houses are close enough, its will cause what is called a flash-over…. This is very dangerous, and is the main reason why fire fighters evacuate near-by houses or apartments. Winds may also carry flame from one house to another. ( Full Answer )

Agoraphobia. It is the fear of open spaces or of being in crowded, public places like markets. Fear of leaving a safe place.
It would depend on how hot the fire gets. If the fire burns really hot then the clay can actually melt and slump. I've seen wood firings where several pots were fired too hot and melted to the kiln shelf. It also depends on what kind of ceramic material is being burned. Stoneware can stand up to muc…h higher temperatures than earthenware clay. But, I would say that if the whole house was left to burn with no interference then ceramic would not survive the fire no matter what type of ceramic it is. ( Full Answer )

If you want to survive a house fire then you should get out. But if you wanted to get out before you complete house was on fire, then you should probably put a smoke alarm or fire extinguishers in places where you think the fires will start to produce. You can put a fire extinguisher in your kitch…en if you think you will forget to put off the stove when you go somewhere. You can also put memos or notes of the numbers of the closest and nearest fire department in your neighborhood or town. Best thing is to never play with gas or flammable elements in your house or anywhere. If you have a child please inform your child about the safety measures when there is a fire or any other calamity that might happen. And always have a first aid kit together with flashlights, a battery powered radio, batteries and a meaningful supply of food and water in case you have an emergency. Please follow these steps so you can survive in any emergency or danger that will happen to you. Thank you and God Bless You Always! ( Full Answer )

Naturally if left undisturbed not all that high. But this is one of those things that changes wildly based on other variables. Are there kids in the house, do you live in a "bad" part of town, do you live in a country experiencing war or riots, is the wiring in the house up to code, is the house in …an open field, is the house in an area known for wildfires, how much rain has there been in recent times, are any members of the house convicted arsonists, ok by now if you're still reading this you should get the idea. That being said, if this is secretly an insurance question. Yes you should get homeowners coverage that covers fire. ( Full Answer )

Other common sources of house fires include: . chimney fires, improperly installed or maintained heating equipment .… electric heater or wood stove too close to combustibles . smoking materials falling on combustibles . improper disposal of wood-stove or fireplace ashes . worn or overloaded electrical cords or power strips . hot light fixtures too close to combustibles (e.g., halogen lamps) . children playing with fire (including candles, matches, lighters) . fires spreading from an outside fire (rubbish, woods, vehicles) ( Full Answer )
