The hottest part of the day is actually early afternoon being around 3:00, and slowly dropping temperature. Lots of people point towards either noon or 5:00-6:00 being the hottest. The most amount of radiation hitting earth directly is around 3:00, the amount of heat in Earth's atmosphere will become higher than the amount of heat coming from the sun, making the temperature drop. 4-6 o'clock is not the coolest, but is not the highest.

Disclaimer: I'm not a meteorologist, or scientist who studies in any fields of Earth and/or radiation fields. This info is based off of knowledge found from different articles online.

the sun is in the centre of the sky so it is warmer. Not necceraly. The Earth is constanly moving, and at the middle of the day our location is lines up with the sun. As we continue to move it becomes colder and darker because we are moving away from the sun. P.S. The sun does not move we do.
