Why is oil leaking out of the bottom of the car?

It could be a number of things, The most likely however is a leaking sump. Possible that its leaking from the nut if its loose or there is no washer, could be from the CV joint also. VW's are famous for valve cover gasket leaks. Oil blows though, runs down and drips from the bottom. I also had to replace the O-ring at the base of the distributor. It was causing the same thing. Bottom drip.

oil can be leaking from higher up on engine. u just need to clean engine, then after running for awhile, look for leak, be aware that oil on engine can be blown back over engine by the fan, so some hard looking may be what it takes to find the problem

The oil rings in the piston are leaking oil so u need to replace them

If it is leaking oil excessively you probably shouldn't. If the leaking oil was to reach the catalytic converter the oil could catch fire. Not to mention that everywhere you park you will leave a mess and you will be adding oil constantly to the engine.

Motor oil drain plug is on the bottom of the oil pan. Oil pan is on bottom of motor. Bottom of motor is under car.

Look at the bottom or side of the oil pan, but usually at the bottom rear of the oil pan "toward the back of the car"

Well, oil leaking onto the starter is a common cause of it going bad. Have the starter tested, if possible, then replace if bad. You'll also want to correct the oil leak, usually valve covers leaking.
