Why is the HDMI wire not included in the box when you buy a PlayStation 3?

It is not known why an HDMI wire is not initially included in the box with a bought Playstation 3. The most likely reason is that the HD feature on the PS3 could be considered an optional feature.

My Comcast box is HD and I have a Sony HDTV and Sony Home Theater equipped with a HDMI repeater. If you are talking about connection for the internet it is not done with a HDMI cable, but an ethernet cable
