Here is another answer. At the time that we dropped the atom bomb Stalin was our tentative ally so we didn't have to fight him, because Hitler betrayed Stalin by invading Russia. We had enough men to fight for Japan we just didn't want to because the lives lost would be extremely high. We gave the people of Japan plenty of warnings; we dropped fliers, we told officials we even announced that if Japan did not surrender we would wreck horrible damage on them.

There were several reasons to why it was important to bomb Hiroshima. One reason was to end WWII. It was used to intimidate Stalin so it would keep him out of the Pacific War. Also, if we just sent more American troops to fight, Japan was ready. They had around 9 million Japanese ready to fight. So to save ourselves, we bombed them. It worked, making Japan surrender but at the same time it failed. We killed many innocent civilians. Everybody knows that's not the right thing to do. Because if their was a war going on and the battle field took place in America, we wouldn't want people to nuclear bomb us and kill many innocent lives that maybe didn't want to be in the war in the first place.
*** Its important to realize that the Japanese DID NOT surrender after Hiroshima was bombed. They did not surrender until August 14th, 5 days after the first Hydrogen Bomb was dropped on Nagasaki****
Hiroshima is extremely important to history of the world 1. it represents the first military use of an atomic weapon
2. It shows the Horror that came of using said atomic weapon
3.it would be a major cause for the end of World War 2 (even though Japan was alreeady going to surrender)
Hiroshima was the place where the US showed strength over the Soviet Union. By the use of the new weapons, Stalin could not proceed with his plans to gain territory in the pacific. Communist was not let to spread.
It brought the war with Japan to an end and saved many American and Japanese lives by avoiding an invasion of the Japanese homeland.
I also believe it was a prelude to the cold war. It was not known we exhausted our supply of nuclear weapons but it was meant to be a warning to the soviet union.
I also think it was the entrance of russia into the war that convinced japan to surrender they wanted no part of them. the fire bombing of tokyo months earlier killed many many more people and yet there was no surrender.
The bombing of Hiroshima was important because it brought the second world war to an end.
Hiroshima was not exactly a "battle". It was bombed by one single aircraft. The importance of this bombing was that it was first use of the atomic bomb against a city.
Because it ended the war and collapsed Japan's means to make war ever again.
