Broken clutch cable or clutch pressure plate fork.
Perhaps the clutch isn't completely disengaging. Are you certain that you're pushing the clutch in completely? Sometimes a warped clutch will be difficult to shift.
I would suspect a weak clutch slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder which may be preventing the clutch from disengaging fully; The slave cylinder is connected hydraulically to the clutch master cylinder. The clutch master is where you add fluid.
to start with when you push in on the clutch pedal you are disengaging it. Your description sounds like the clutch has clutched its last clutch What if it is not the clutch?
A clutch not disengaging is usually a hydraulic issue. Check your clutch fluid. Then check your clutch master and slave cylinders for leaks.
There is no adjustment on the clutch, if it is not disengaging, it is probably the slave cylindar on the transmission. The fluid may be low also.
The clutch might not be completely disengaging.
Un-Freeze? I don't think a clutch can freeze. Most likely, you have a failed slave/master cylinder on the hydraulic part of the clutch system. Open up your Clutch Master Cylinder and make sure there is fluid in the reservoir. It can fail internally and not appear to leak. You might also try looking at the bottom of the Jeep by the Transmission bellhousing. If it's wet with fluid running down it, it is the slave cylinder and the transmission will need to be pulled in order to repair it. The longer you wait, the longer you will have to deal with the clutch not disengaging. If it isn't the hydraulic part of the clutch system, you most likely have a failed clutch. Good luck with your repair.
either your clutch is not disengaging completely or your synchro's are going or have gone bad. If you have a 4 cylinder model I'll bet it's the synchros, those ax5 transmissions are famously weak and suffer from synchro problems.
If it will go into gear when the engine is off but not when the engine is running, the clutch is not disengaging. It could be the clutch, possibly warped or put in wrong, or it could be the hydraulic clutch mechanism.
The clutch is not adjustable.
How to change a clutch and master cylinder on a 93 jeep wrangler
Whenever you are having a problem with the clutch disengaging the engine from the transmission it is advisable to bleed the clutch slave cylinder. If the clutch can't be operated by bleeding the slave cylinder then the clutch master cylinder is gone and should be replaced.
