Yes. Bears that were colors other than white would not have been able to hunt for food in the arctic, and would have died off. Only white bears would survive. After a while, there are only white bears.

  • Yes. The only time the fur would not be white is if it rolled into something. A polar bear is born white and remains that way its entire life. You may sometimes see a polar bear look a little yellow-ish. This has nothing to do with the seasons but is because the polar bear's fur has become dirty. Just as a white cat or dog's fur would turn a yellowish, brownish color if it had become dirty or wet, so does a polar bear's.

Further information:

In actual fact, polar bears have transparent fur over black skin. Reflection of the sunlight from the densely packed transparent hairs makes polar bears seem to be white. The bears' black skin absorbs heat from the sun. The transparent fur is made up of hollow hairs called guard hairs. These air-filled guard hairs help transmit heat from the sunlight to the polar bear's black skin as a solar heat collector. In turn, the reflection stops the heat being lost from their black skin. So - as long as they are in white snow, their fur is white. Were they to be taken to another environment, then their fur would take on the hues of that environment.

Yes, they're white all year. Polar bears occur naturally in the Arctic (close to the North Pole). You can also find them in zoos and animal parks. Of course, if you lived in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, the Polar bears would come to find YOU.

All Zebras are striped animals No zebras are polar bears therefore no polar bears are striped animals Is this a valid or invalid syllogisms?

It is invalid because: Think of it like a fried egg. The white being striped animals and the yolk being all zebras. The yolk is in the middle of the white. Well, polar bears can be in the white without being in the yolk. Polar bears can also be half in the white and half on your plate. Therefore, Some polar bears maybe striped animals.

You observe 200 polar bears all of which are white You conclude that all polar bears are white This is an example of?

In Statistics, this is an example of population sampling (when you take a sample from the whole and draw conclusions based upon it). -on a side note- Polar bears are actually black with thick, translucent fur. It appears white because it reflects off of the ice and snow.

All zebras are striped animals. no zebra are polar bears. Therefore no polar bears are striped animals?

No. You have no statement here that shuts polar bears out of the striped animals category. You've put zebras into the striped animals group, but there could be other things in the same group. You'd have to do that the other way around: All striped animals are zebras. No polar bears are striped animals. Therefore no polar bears are zebras.
