While humans have a round pupil, the shape of the cow's pupil is oval. This is due to differences in the eyes. Humans can see color and have good vision for detail. Cows can only see shapes but not fine detail, and they cannot see in color.

As cattle are prey animals, they have evolved so that they have more of a horizon sight so as to see predators. Further example, goats pupils are horizontal supposedly for this fact.
