Why is this site so complicated?

Go to your "My pages" at the bottom of the blue strip. Then, click My Contributions and your question should be there--answered or not. If you clicked the box to add it to your Watchlist (below the answer box), you will get email confirmation when it has been answered.

What is "screwed up" to one person might not be to another. If you are speaking about inconsistencies and bugs, that is likely due to the changes on the site and incomplete migrations. There have been at least 3 different layouts, and things often change between them. Having so many different layouts and code that is over 7 years old, things can get confusing to the developers, and bugs do creep in.

If you mean in terms of content, that has to do with the users who come here. Not everyone takes this site seriously. It is a common mistake to believe an informal atmosphere invites disrespect. So a user may assume this is a free-for-all where you can do what you please, when that is not the case at all. Even with 1100 supervisors, it is hard to deal with all the abuse. The beauty of a wiki site is that nearly anyone can edit. And yet, that may also be one of its greatest weaknesses.

Do keep in mind that some aspects of this site are not messed up. For instance, this is one of the friendliest Q&A sites. Having been a supervisor, I can tell you that the community assistants and supervisors are among the best people you will ever meet. It is not a perfect culture, and misunderstandings can occur, along with the occasional bad call, but everyone does try their best to make this the best site that they can.
