Wadu is a way of purification of you before standing before Allah the almighty. Islam urges people to be always clean, neat, smart and with nice odor "perfume". To be clean and tidy is part of Islam.

Before you eat you usually clean your hands for example!

and before you are ready to stand and talk to your creator Allah the almighty, you make Wadu. This is your ticket to start prayers and communicate with Allah subhanahu wata'ala.

Wadu also as it purifies you from dirt, it also purifies you from sins. (small sins not deadly sins) which need honest repentance.

Wudu is the Islamic act of washing parts of the body using water. Muslims are required to be clean in preparation for ritual prayers. The Qur'an says "For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean."

Muslims are also required to be clean when handling and reading the Qur'an. The Qur'an says "Which none shall touch but those who are clean." Purification of the body and clothes is called taharah. Islamic prophet Muhammad said that "Cleanliness is half of faith." To have taharah for the body, one should do either ghusl or wudu. Wudu is often translated as "partial ablution", as opposed to ghusl, or "full ablution".

In addition to fulfilling the riual worship requirements, we perform Wudu or ablution numerous times a day most commonly before Salah (or praying) but not limited to it as a physical act with physical benefits but it has many other benefits as this hadith highlights very clearly.

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that prophet Muhammad; the Messenger of Allah (SAW); said,"When a Muslim, or a believer, washes his face (in the course of Wudu'), every sin which he committed with his eyes, will be washed away from his face with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin which is committed by his hands will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin his feet committed will be washed away with the water, or with the last drop of water; until he finally emerges cleansed of all his sins." (Muslim).

It might be worth looking at our state of mind before or whilst performing Wudu'. Do we dismiss it as 'a quick wash' before Salah, or do we realise we are following God command, the Prophet's (SAW) Sunnah, by removing sins and not forgetting preparing for Salah?
