Cats often cough due to hairballs, or sneeze because they have something up their nose (eg., water).
However, coughing and sneezing together may be a sign of something more serious, such as URI (Upper Respiratory Infection). If the coughing/sneezing is happening more than normal, if they occur together, if the coughing sounds painful or if the cat has runny/watery/goopy eyes/nose, take him to the vet.

∙ 14y agoThere is two possibilities, your cat has a hairball or your cat has an infection in the upper part of his/her body and would then need vet attention.
According to most veterinarians, coughing and wheezing is sign of Asthma in cats.

Your vet can remove stuck objects or diagnose and treat illnesses. If you see your cat acting strangely, you should always take him/her to the vet for professional treatment.
