This could be due to a number of reasons, the cat may have hairballs, or have some irritation in the stomach caused by bacteria. It is recommended that you take your feline to the veterinarian for diagnosis.

Could it be hairballs? If not, try upgrading the level of your cat food. Many cats can't tolerate the more generic brands as they are full of chemicals.

Your cat may also have a mild allergy to your cat food. One of my cats would get sick once a day from the food I gave them (seafood) as he was mildly allergic to fish (which makes sense when you really think about cats and water..). The vomiting ended when I switched him to Nutra Vet chicken brand.

Hope that helps!

When cats are young, they are used to having to compete with the rest of the litter for food. If they are new to the experience of being a single cat or they are not the only pet, they often gorge themselves because it is what they know and they might feel that the meal won't wait for them. Depending on the cat and situation, a couple options that might help are:

  • Feeding your cat small but frequent meals to remove the ability to gorge. It can take months or even years for a cat to get used to the fact it does not have to gulp down its food so fast.
  • Set meal times are highly advised to help the cat into a routine. This also may curb any fast eating, and it will also help you, the owner, monitor the cat's feeding habits.
  • Many brands of food (particularly dry) are packed with corns and grains. This is cheap carbohydrate filler that the food manufacturers use as its a cheaper source of protein than meat is. Cats are strict carnivores, so can only get their nutrients from meat-based protein, not plant-based protein.
  • If your cat is eating dry food, this could be the problem. Many cats will swallow kibble pieces whole, which could get caught in the throat or the stomach can't digest such big pieces.
  • Of course there is always the possibility that your pet is sick, so checking with the Vet is never a bad choice.

Your cat may just be coughing up a hairball which is normal for cats; they eat small furry animals and later cough up the fur. However, if the cat is puking semi-digested food rather than fur, it probably ate something that it shouldn't have, perhaps something rotten.

A cat may sneeze and vomit up food is they are allergic to the food. Also, other illnesses can cause a cat to get sick when eating.

What is wrong id my cat Reptar has been throwing up a lot lately like within the past two weeks?

My cat used to throw up a lot as well. He has a kidney problem and the toxicity in his system was causing him to throw up. If your cat is younger than this is not likely the case but if he is an older cat it is possible he might have kidney problems. It is very common in older cats. Cats live in a dehydrated state most of their lives and it is only when they are older that it catches up with them.
