1. You have installed the driver for your sound card.
2. Your speakers are plugged into the correct jack, have power, and are turned up.
3. The sound mixer in Windows is turned up.

∙ 14y agoAlthough uncommon, it is possible that your sound card is not supported by ALSA (the set of drivers for sound cards in the kernel). Also make sure that you have turned up your volume in your mixer, including all bars.
