No spark could be caused by several things: no voltage to the coil or ignition system; a bad coil; a bad ignition system; bad pickup coil(s) in the distributor; a bad coil wire; or more serious engine problems such as a broke camshaft or camshaft timing chain. If your distributor is fine and the coil is good as well as the ignition system is in working order, you might check the computer on the side of the air cleaner.
1000 ohms per 12 inches.
pull and plug vacuum line to spark computer, adjust timing
There is no ignition module on a 1987 5th ave. The spark control computer is on the air cleaner with a vacuum line hooked to it.
A 2004 3.8L does not have a distributor.
It has spark plugs, plug wires, and a distributor.
It could be either the crank angle sensor or the distributor module. If it is the distributor module, you have to buy and install a re-man distributor.
This is a bad answer because the 1987 fifth ave. doesnot have a vacumn advance on or near the distributer! Pull and plug the vacumn tube going to the distributor. Loosen the distributor hold down clamp, using a timing light on No. 1 spark plug (the front plug on the driver's side of the motor) turn the distributor until desired timing is obtained.
You will have no spark from the distributor. You will have no spark from the distributor.
It is on the air cleaner. If the sticker is still intact it will say "electronic spark control", or "electronic fuel control" on it. It will have a vacuum line plugged in to it, and a couple of wire harnesses.
There could be a few things on a 1995 Chrysler LeBaron causing the distributor not to have power. But first I would check the spark plugs and see if maybe they have gone bad.
Auto zones website has a guide on where to place them
If your spark plug doesn't screw in your threads might be messed up. Run down to your local Part store and ask for a Thread Chasser($arround 10$) and screw that in to your spark plug housing just as you where screwing in a spark plug. What this does is it replaces the threads. Take out the chasser, Lubricate your spark plug and you should be good to go.
The book says to use champion rn12yc spark plugs so I did, a month later my 87 wouldn't start and I didn't think it could be the plugs, it was I put Bosh spark plugs in and it started but was misfiring so I put Bosh spark plug wires ( 32.99 at autozone) and haven't had a problem since.
hope you have not looked too much for it! there isn't one. on my 2001 there is a coil on each individual spark plug to take the place of the distributor.
there are four spark plug wires that run to the distributor..the fifth one is the coil wire
My 93 camry has no power from the distributor to the spark plugs. The car unable to start.
That's not really what's going on. The coil makes the spark, the distributor distributes the spark to the correct plug. If the distributor is not in the correct position, the spark does not go to the correct plug, or goes to the correct plug at the wrong time.
distributes the spark from the coil to the spark plugs
Yes, if the spark plug wires can be connected to the distributor and works.
Are you sure you need to replace it? Is it a no-spark condition? Might want to check the Crankshaft Position Sensor first.
AnswerIf there is no spark I would say its the distributor.AnswerBefore condemning the distributor, check for spark from the coil. If no spark check the crankshaft position sensor.
Tuning up a Chrysler PT Cruiser can be done at home or by a mechanic. A tune up will consist of an oil change, changing the spark plugs and wires, air filter, and distributor cap.
