Best Answer

KBr is used mostly in IR Spectroscopy techniques because it do not absorbs moisture at room temperature as compared to NaCl.

More over it do not give its own peak.

Why use KBr in FTIR?

The crystal has no visible peaks in the infrared spectrum making it transparent in ftir.

Why in some cases nujol technique is used In IR spectroscopy and in some other cases rest of techniques Is there any specific reason which technique to use and when?

you use nujol when you have a solid and combining the solid with the nujol forms a toothpaste consistency which you can then perform a neat IR on.

Applications of IR?

The application for IR spectroscopy include the identification of functional group and structure elucidation. It also includes the identification of substances and detection of impurities.
