Some bacteria may at times undergo a form of sexual reproduction

Added:

Because by conjugating they are taking on genetic material from other bacteria and have a statistically better chance of obtaining the variations needed to survive and reproduce in the less than ideal conditions.

That is a wonderful question. I wish they could tell us, and since they can't we'll have to make some assumptions. About the best that we can say is that they have found a successful strategy to adapt to their changing environment. If we think of exchanging genetic information as exchanging information on how to survive and thrive, and that information is in the genes, then cooperating with each other makes sense to us. And so, as humans, that's about the best we can do to understand creatures that live with us, on us, and in us, and usually go noticed until their conjugation is so successful that they thwart our efforts to keep them at bay and some of them us sick.

Conjugation is when bacteria swap some if their DNA then they might be better able to survive, also bacteria can adapt to any environment on earth, except stuff like multen lava.

Why do plants undergo modification?

Plants mainly undergo modification to increase their abilities to adapt. By modifying themselves, they can better adapt to and survive in their environment.

Explain using examples why plants undergo modifications to their plants?

Plants undergo mutations to develop a plant that can survive longer. For example, millions of years ago plants couldn't live outside of water because the conditions were too harsh. They managed to evolve and live on land by developing cuticles and different ways of pollinating.
