If the button doesn't move at all on the shift knob it is this.
There is a small white part attached to button linkage with a bearing at the top of it. Odds are it is broken and it won't push in because that bearing tip broke of and is jammed in the button assembly of the shift knob.. take off the shift knob and buy the replacement part after prying out the rest of that part from the stick.
yes it will
There is a feature that will not allow it to go out of park unless the brake is on, check to see if the brake lights work, if not it could be a fuse or brake switch. If they work then the cable going to the shifter may have broken.
Trouble code P1899 means: Park/ Neutral switch stuck in park or gear
SOMETIMES IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. TRY JIGGERING THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND.
my 2002 was also stuck in park. if you turn the key one click without turning on the electricity, you can move the shift into neutral and it will work there. on the top of the brake pedal is a little white box with a little black switch on it. Move switch to the left and then turn key on and move switch back to the right two clicks and this will unlock shifter.
check the brake pedal switch
Neon Park died in 1993.
Neon Park was born in 1940.
Your probably letting your transmission roll forward or backwards after you put it into park. This puts pressure on the transmission where it stops and it "pops" out of park for this reason, making the loud noise. Apply the E-Brake after putting it into park but before you let off the regular break, it wontcontinue to roll.
i think so mabey not do not take my word for it No you check it idling in Park.
i once had this problem and my car wasnt completely in park...yea felt pretty stupid.
A bad idle control module will make it race up to about 3000 r.p.m. when in park.
