I've always thought that too, because that's how Fahrenheit fixed the zero point on his temperature scale. However, I've just checked and the correct answer seems to be "about minus 6 degrees Fahrenheit".

When we add sugar or salt, the melting point of ice is lowered due to which it will melt even faster as ice melts on any temperature above it's freezing point.
