Why food handlers are not permitted to wear any jewelry except wedding ring when they're at work?

Jewelry isn't permitted when working with food for sanitation reasons. Jewelry tends to pick up and retain bacteria, and they may fall into the food thus rendering it inedible.

∙ 11y agoWearing jewellery in a (professional kitchen) is illegal this is because the object of jewellery could fall into food without knowing which could cause very serious problems. Wearing jewellery even if cleaned can still harbor Bacteria which is lethal in a Kitchen serving paying customers.
