because without a dress code people will wear whatever they want and that is not okay. some people would choose to wear gross, smelly, or innapropriate clothing to school. dress codes are very important. they say its to stop folks from discriminating based on socio-economic class but it doesnt work cause in the schools we still can tell who is less fortunate based on other factors. like the car they ride to school in or the clothing we see them wearing at after schoool events. i cant help but notice also that the level of violence in our schools has actually incresed since uniform policys were instituted. all these school masacres didnt really start till after the uniforms so at the very least it proves that the policy didnt achieve its stated goal and should be changed

1. to have students recognised as going to a certain school
2. To provide standardisation. This was to ensure that those who were unable to afford designer label clothes were not disadvantaged or discriminated against due to their financial position.
3 Basic discipline. Many careers require its workforce to wear a prescribed attire a Uniform is an introduction to those disciplines

∙ 11y agoSchools SHOULD have a school dress code so that no one is sexually abused, harassed, and or raped. Wearing a low cut shirt or a really short skirt with a thong underneath just tells the guys that you want it. So, girls out there that likes to wear belly shirts, short shorts, or jeans that show off your g-string, DONT come crying to someone when you get molested.

Why high schools should not have a dress code?
Dress codes are there to make sure that the people under the ruling of a specific dress code are not wearing something inappropriate for what ever the situation is. Many high schools have dress codes to ensure that the students aren't wearing an offensive or possibly not modest piece of clothing to ensure that the attire being worn is not distracting, or otherwise inhibiting the school work to be done efficiently. On the other side, it restricts students from showing as much personality, and individualism through what they wear. This can take away some of the students confidence, and self image. I personally believe that having a dress code is important. I attend a school wear we are not allowed to wear makeup, or shorts of certain lengths, or dye our hair unnatural colors, and honestly it is not that bad. It certainly makes the work environment more relaxed, as long as the other students follow the rules.
