The United States should care about honoring the suffering of people who were butchered for who they were and what they believed, especially since the United States is a country founded by people who fled the Old World specifically because of ethnic and religious persecution -- just like what the Armenian, Pontic Greek, and Assyrian people suffered in the Ottoman-led genocide.
Additionally, US Recognition of the genocide may force Turkey to become more introspective about its consistent denial of this unfathomable crime. To read more about the Turkish stance on the Armenian Genocide, please see this Related Question: Why does the Turkish government deny that a genocide took place?
The US in the early 20th century was isolationist and could not have cared less about the Armenian Genocide. As a result, the US did nothing.
Yes! Russians when they announce that Armenian is one of the USSR republics all together there was 15.
If you mean about the Armenian Genocide, then that is because turkey pays America to not recognize it...
There is proof of the Armenian Genocide because of the survivors that are recorded on tape. Anyone who denies it being a Genocide is stupid, it was a Genocide. Turks deny it and are making threats to the US to not take action or call it a Genocide.. We are allies with the Turks... There are still things to prove it to be true. Just as the holocaust was denied, even though they tried to cover it up.. Genocide, causes people to deny because they don't want to lose there respect. Our Governors or now Governing for the Turks. they are getting payed millions of dollars.
The US should have definitely got involved in the genocide because there were mass murders and they could have done something.
The Armenian Genocide was thought, designed and executed by the Ottoman Empire government. The European , as well as the US government were the witnesses of these tragedy. Actually there are overwhelming evidence about this in the archives of foreign ministeries of these countries. They helped in small ways - like opening orphanages, small hospitals, several French and British ships saved some groups.
The United States did not directly respond. this was in l9l5 when World War I ( then styled the European War) was in progress. US was not in the fight until l9l7, and public opinion was mostly anti-war. Therefore the Armenian massacre received little media ( at the time almost entirely newspaper) attention, events in European War such as various battles land, and sea, yes, but Armenia was a backwater compared to say, the Somme or Vimy or the French theatre of operations in general.
which genocide?
Answer this question… Ottoman Empire
When the US formularies for a VISA application are asking about "genocide", they are asking whether you aided or abetted the massacres of various ethnic or religious groups in your country or any other. The United States is not interested in giving asylum to murderers or accessories to murder.

It is ILLEGAL to speak about the Armenian Genocide in Turkey (most of Turkey was formerly Armenian homeland) because: 1. It is against Turkish Nationalistic policy to talk against Turkey - in other words if you talk against Turkey it is seen as high treason and you will be punished to the full extent of the law. 2. They deny there was ever a genocide so that they don't have any responsibility to reimburse any of the Armenian losses that occurred as a result of their forcibly removing them from their homeland and taking their possessions or enabling hardened Turkish criminals they put in charge of handling the "armenian problem". One of the most famous Armenian journalists and newspaper publishers, Hrant Dink was assassinated in full view and in broad daylight in Turkey (formerly Armenia) where his office was, on his way in to work. Instead of punishing the shooter as any civilized democratic country's government would have done - they hailed him as a HERO. The only reason why the United States has not FORCED Turkey to acknowledge the case of Genocide is because we have military bases there for strategic location and neither this president nor any of the former ones want to "rock the boat". So, whilst we are on US land, the US acknowledges it - but don't ask them to force Turkey to recognize their atrocities - they just will not do it and have openly threatened the US a couple of years ago when they were being strong-armed by the United Nations into admitting it.
