No. The state requires schools to have a set amount of time in class and to get a half day off on Friday would mean staying later in the day and a longer school year. The school district counts the number of minutes for everything in school and the school has to turn in a report to the state. The times you go to school and the number of days has to be approved by the state it is not an arbitrary thing .
